What Exactly is the Phantom Zone, Anyway?
I admit it. I got way behind on Smallville. It’s never been one of my favorite shows, but I watch it cause I feel like I should. It should be a favorite. It really should. It has everything I would be looking for, except that I think the writing is bad. Sorry, I just do. Sometimes its just so stiff and serious, I can’t get past it.
But I am liking it more. Just not enough to go back and watch the three episodes I missed when I had no CW on my TV. To be fair, I did try to go back and watch them. But I kept having computer issues and I just ran out of time, energy and interest. I did, however, watch the last two weeks of shows, “Identity” and “Bloodline.” I was behind on those, too, but I had DVRd them and I finally got a chance to watch.
I’ll admit, I liked “Identity” better, since it dealt with more concrete issues. Jimmy Olsen is trying to find the superhero who he accidentally snapped a very blurry picture of during a robbery. He begins to suspect that its Clark, but then they set up an elaborate scheme to throw Jimmy off. It doesn’t happen as planned, when Lois gets into trouble and Clark has to go help her, but then Jimmy gets jumped. Instead of the original plan, Oliver, who is trying to help Clark out, wearing blue with a red cape, makes the rescue. At first, Jimmy still insists its Clark, who was missing for a moment, but then Clark points out the caped man on the nearby roof.
“Bloodline” involved a trip for Clark and Lois to the Phantom Zone. I think that’s pretty much all I can say about it. I don’t get the Phantom Zone.
Another thing I don’t get at all is Lois. In both of the last two episodes she had brushes with some pretty weird stuff, but even so she has no idea what’s going on under her very nose. She’s supposed to be a hot shot reporter and she is completely clueless. It’s just not believable for me.
Like I said, I want to like this show.
