Thursday night’s Smallville
On sunday, I watched thursday’s episode of Smallville for the second time. I can’t get over how awesome an episode it was. Mostly because I love when they revisit the earlier episodes, referring to Chloe’s quote, “100% meteor freak.” I found that in season four, they really pulled away from that, with Lana and Jason hunting down the three stones, the show didn’t have that same Superman feeling that I just love. However, last season, and this season, have really brought us back to that. With Zod possessing Lex’s body, to Clark being pulled into the phantom zone, and back to the intense and addicting stories about the meteor showers and the affect that kryptonite has on people, who were come to known as meteor freaks. The story of some one smuggling in spanish immigrants from mexico to use as slaves on a farm, and then pulling any underground who tried to leave, was a story which I found very real but also very smallville. I also loved how the writers used a story line that seemed like it could happen (except for the fact that there was a crazy farm man with a dirt fetish, as adored Jimmy Olsen says). One thing that really made me love that episode even more was when Clark shows a piece of paper with the phrase “Arboles grande 5″ and asks Javier to translate it, which I understood, as I am taking Spanish this year. I found that really neat, and I loved the character of Javier, and how Clark got to be sort of like a big brother again. It reminded me of a story that was done quite some time ago, with a boy who could read minds. I’ve always liked the idea of Clark being a big brother, as you can tell how only he was some times, as he was a lonely child. Overall, I loved last week’s episode the most.
