Stylista

by

Another show coming from the CW is Stylista on Wednesdays at 9:00 pm EST, but it isn’t gonna air until October 22, 2008.

The CW says, “If The Devil Wears Prada were a reality show, it would be Stylista.” There are eleven candidates, fashion wannabes, who fight over an editorial job at Elle magazine. Anne Slowey, Elle’s Fashion News Director, is a demanding, well-respected fashion icon, and the candidates will work as her assistants. (I checked out the pic in her bio on the Elle site, and I’m not sure I even like her fashion sense. I mean, it’s like she forgot to put on her top! Personally, I hate that look. It’s kinda trashy and desperate, if you ask me.)

Each episode will see the competitors carry out a task as her assistant and also a fashion editorial assignment. Then Anne fires one person, each week, in consultation with Joe Zee, Elle’s Creative Director. The last person standing gets the real job, which includes the paid editorial position at Elle magazine, a paid lease on a great apartment in Manhattan, and a clothing allowance at H&M, all for one year, valued at $100,000.

Executive producers include Tyra Banks, Ken Mok, Eli Holzman, Desiree Gruber and Jane Cha.

Speaking of The Devil Wears Prada, just recently I had a group of my friends over to watch that movie. About four years ago, we all worked together for a woman - who shall remain now and forever nameless - and she was very, very similar to Miranda Priestly. In a super scary way. We actually had a lot of fun that night, though, watching the movie and stopping it occasionally to reminisce about all the crazy stuff that happened back at that job. It wasn’t as funny back then as it is now, that’s for sure.

In any case, Stylista might be a fun show to watch.

Television is a reality wasteland now. Just keep the top 5 reality shows and put some actors to work and make some good tv sitcoms for crying out loud. I’m tired of them starring in their own “reality” shows.

I thought you only watched reality TV!!

About Watching The CW

The CW was born in September 2006, and inherited a mixture of programming from its parents the WB and UPN. The CW has a diverse line up from Monday night comedy to Friday Night Smackdown. In between the laughs and the wrestling are alternate reality or fantasy based shows (Supernatural, Smallville), ones that are fit to bursting with bright young things (Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill) and don't forget all the wannabes trying to make it in reality programming (The Beauty & the Geek, America's Next Top Model, Pussy Cat Dolls). This blog will review, recap, share spoilers and other cool finds related to the CW's programming.
