So - Superman is pretty much amazing.
I actually didn’t begin watching Smallville from the beginning of Season one. Nor have I been a Superman for my entire life. I didn’t really get into Smallville until it was halfway into it’s first season. Once I saw it on TV, I knew I had liked it and wanted to watch it. I’m glad I asked for the first season that Christmas, or else I wouldn’t be able to speak of how an amazing a show it is. Like, come on. That dude (so I don’t know his name, so what) created the character of Clark Kent/Superman in what, the 20’s? And that character is still going on. Even after like fifty years of comics, chronicles, TV series, movies, and action figures. Smallville is currently in it’s sixth season, and the movie - Superman Returns starring Brandon Routh, just came out. So how can you not agree that Superman, Smallville and Clark Kent, are pretty much amazing. Of course, there are many differences between Smallville and the Superman movies, but that’s okay, as anyone who is not an insane, crazy Superman-Smallville-obsessed fan, probabaly never notices. Just the chronological order of things, but then again, the movies were very general, and the time gaps were a lot broader than on Smallville. Smallville really focuses on how Clark Kent went from being Kryptonian born, and farm boy raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent. However, Smallville brought something new to the surface that no one, that I know of, had thought of before. They created their own legendary stories about meteor freaks. Which I love about the show, because it’s so, Smallville. The reason I love it so much is because it’s what keeps the show the same, while allowing, Clark, Chloe, Lana and the rest of the characters, and the show, to grow up a little. Also, even though it’s a fictional type of story, it’s some thing that I find people can relate to. Some went bad because they just wanted to fade into the background, some just wanted revenge as they had a certain grudge on an old aquaintance, and then some just had no one that they really cared about for, and no one that cared for them, and just felt as if they had nothing to loose. Those are things, while in the story lines they are pushed to extreme limits, are things that I believe many people can relate to. And that, of course, is one of the things that makes a show really brilliant. It’s good if it’s funny, intense, addicting to watch, all those things, but if you can also find ways to show how it’s also very real, even if it’s a fictional show like Smallville, that’s going to make the show all the more worthwhile to watch.
