Smallville, Supernatural and One Tree Hill on hiatus

by Staff Writer

This year has been a great one, for many of the television series on the CW. A few of my favourites would have to be One Tree Hill which airs Wednesdays at 9, Smallville which airs Thursday at 8, and is followed by Supernatural at 9. Many unexpected events have been revealed, many new plot twists have happened, and most of all, the characters have been through a lot this year. All these shows are very different, but they have all under gone some thing that we in real life go through every day - change.

However, the three shows that I previously mentioned have gone on hiatus, and are showing re-runs from the beginning of the season, or just have some other show in their place. One Tree Hill for example - has had many amazing episodes in past weeks, but last week, they put the show on hiatus. From the amazing state championship game, which had some of the most brilliant writing I’ve ever come to know, and insane plot twists and turns, to the very interesting and exciting episode following Lucas’ heart attack, and the accident involving Daunte and Haley. After winning the championship game, Daunte planned to hit and kill Nathan, but hit Haley instead, who was then in danger of dying, plus with the baby, who the doctors weren’t really sure were going to make it. Then, Lucas, who had stupidly not taken his heart medicine which allows his heart to slow down enough so that he can play basketball without putting his heart in danger, is in complete shock when Haley gets hit, as they’ve been best friends since the beginning of the series. His heart then gives out, causing him to go into chartiac arrest. The following episode was Keith, who we all know had been killed by Dan last season, comes to him as a guide, showing him what everyone’s lives in Tree Hill would have been like if Lucas had not been the amazing person that he is. In the end, Lucas wakes up, as does Haley, and her baby is okay. The cliffhanger, however, is wether or not Lucas has figured out that Dan was the one who shot Keith. To go on hiatus after such a cliffhanger, is pretty agravating, and I hope they come back on the air soon.

Smallville, however, isn’t as big of a deal because the last epsiode was just your run of the mill meteor freak episode. However, it has been intensely interesting seeing how Lex is slowly turning evil, how Lana has turned to the dark side and how Clark is slowly turning into Superman. So when the show returns, it will be interesting to see how all of those things unfold, and whether there will be another season after this, no one can know for sure.

Supernatural has been one of the shows that I want to come back the most, especially after the cliffhanger on last weeks’ episode. It is one of the newest favourite shows of mine, but I love it all the same. The different demon types and stories have been very intriguing, and the endless secret with Sam has been some thing that has been bringing me back to this show, wanted to know more about him and what it is that Dean is hiding from him, and what Sam and Dean’s father told Dean about Sam. The last episode, at the very end was Dean about to tell Sam what is different about him, and then they ended there, and now there won’t be another show until the new year. That was a very smart yet aggravating thing for the writers to do.

All in all, I am angry about the hiatus on all these shows, but I understand all the same. They do this so they make sure that you’re coming back for more each week, and when they leave for more than just one week, it makes you even more anxious, and most likely loving the new, and exciting episodes all the much more.

    - Haha, I’ve got you so hooked on this show! -

The basketball championship episode has got to be one of my absolute favourites. Everything from the writing to the editing was fantastic. I especially loved how we got to see more interaction from each of the main characters.
I’m so relieved that Haley and Lucas will be alright, and that Haley’s baby is fine as well. Now, I just want to know if Lucas will remember his reunion with Keith!

About Watching The CW

The CW was born in September 2006, and inherited a mixture of programming from its parents the WB and UPN. The CW has a diverse line up from Monday night comedy to Friday Night Smackdown. In between the laughs and the wrestling are alternate reality or fantasy based shows (Supernatural, Smallville), ones that are fit to bursting with bright young things (Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill) and don't forget all the wannabes trying to make it in reality programming (The Beauty & the Geek, America's Next Top Model, Pussy Cat Dolls). This blog will review, recap, share spoilers and other cool finds related to the CW's programming.
