Selling Top Model Beauty

by

America’s Next Top Model starts out this week with the top four contestants chatting about what’s past and what they need to do going forward. Marjorie is still all worried and conflicted, Samantha seems very confident.

Paulina teaches them tricks to sell things without speaking, since this is something models have to do all the time. They have to model herring, toilet paper, cell phones and some other stuff. To me it seemed like Analeigh was the best, but Paulina thought she didn’t pay close enough attention to where the camera was. Although, Paulina did have pretty good things to say about all of them.

The challenge is to shoot a commercial for a sports line. They are acting with a gorgeous male model. And they get to kiss him!! The winner is a $10,000 shopping spree at G-Star. Samantha and Analeigh did really well. McKey did OK, but she looked a little stiff to me. Marjorie says her new approach is to have fun rather than to be complete neurotic. But she is a little insane looking when she kisses him. The winner is Marjorie (and she splits it, evenly, with Analeigh.) Even though they agree that Marjorie was a little crazy, they think that hers was the most honest performance.

Marjorie calls the guys that rode them around on the boats last week and asks them to come visit. They bring food and alcohol. None of the girls but Marjorie actually drink. But they do all appear to be having fun. But they got more drunk and things got a little out of hand. I again submit my suggestion that they have a house mother for these girls. Marjorie starts making out with one of the guys. Then she is in the bath tub with him. At least she is still fully dressed. Analeigh is really worried about her. Finally, the other girls have to throw the guys out.

The photo shoot is at a farm with a windmill in the background. Their hair and makeup is very extreme looking. The pics look cool, but I can’t help but wonder what it is they are trying to sell, cause the outfits, complete with clogs, aren’t so amazing looking. At this point, Marjorie is more confident and Sam is crying because she knows she sucked.

In panel, the pics all looked pretty good to me. They thought McKey was strong, Marjorie was fighting her nerves but might be a little boring, Samantha was great but that the first 53 frames were bad, and Analeigh was really awesome. Miss Jay said, “I’m living for the madness.” I love it!

It seems to me like McKey might win, cause they really seem to like her. If I was picking the winner now, it would be Analeigh. Hopefully, they will be the final two standing. I do think its time for Marjorie to go home this week.

They are called in this order for eliminations: Analeigh, McKey, which makes Samantha and Marjorie the bottom two. Tyra tells them Marjorie takes some of the most exquisite high fashion photos in the competition, but this week her pics were flat, she was very outgoing, and now she’s kinda boring and has lost her essence; Samantha, for some reason just doesn’t get what it means to be a model, and her film in general was weak. However, Samantha gets a reprieve and can stay.

Marjorie goes home, and I think that it was time. She probably could have gone last week.

About Watching The CW

The CW was born in September 2006, and inherited a mixture of programming from its parents the WB and UPN. The CW has a diverse line up from Monday night comedy to Friday Night Smackdown. In between the laughs and the wrestling are alternate reality or fantasy based shows (Supernatural, Smallville), ones that are fit to bursting with bright young things (Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill) and don't forget all the wannabes trying to make it in reality programming (The Beauty & the Geek, America's Next Top Model, Pussy Cat Dolls). This blog will review, recap, share spoilers and other cool finds related to the CW's programming.
