Ryan is Back in the 90210

by

90210So this week on 90210, Ryan Matthews is back in town. But he’s changed. First he tells Harry that he might not be teaching for long, then he shoots down Kelly when she tries to be friendly, and then, he tells Silver (or, as he calls her, Miss Silver) that he has had her transferred out of his class. She doesn’t seem to comprehend why, but then he points out that he doesn’t feel he can be objective given the fact that she called him a child molester on her blog and nearly got him fired. Oh.

Meanwhile, Naomi and Kelly are at odds over what Adrianna should do about the baby. Kelly thinks she should have it and Naomi thinks she should have an abortion. Adrianna has no idea what to do, so she gets in her car, all hepped up on coffee and protein bars, and just drives down the coast all night. When she almost has an accident, she pulls the car over to the side of the road, and pulls herself together before heading back.

Silver is so angry about Mr. Matthews kicking her out of class and just doesn’t seem to care when Dixon explains that she’s so intense, but she sometimes hurts people. He is really talking about himself, but she just doesn’t get it. Instead, she decides to do the homework assignment from his class and do it so well that he will beg her to come back to class. Kelly interferes with Ryan because she feels that he’s being unfair to Silver because of her and she tells him off for sleeping with Brenda. Which, as I see it, is none of her business since she didn’t want him. Ryan tells her he’s burned out and he can’t be the kind of teacher he was before, since everyone thought the worst of him. He’s just going to punch a clock until the end of the year. Kelly then tells him that he’s still a teacher and since Silver went to great effort to write a paper for class she’s not even in, he should at least read it.

Naomi finds out that her mom has really run off to New York to get over all the badness and that her dad is selling the house out from under her. He invites her to come back to the beach and stay with him and his new girlfriend, Gail. That doesn’t work out so well, especially when Naomi goes back to her own house to get her favorite jeans and finds her dad cheating on Gail with the realtor. The next day she tells her dad off and moves into a hotel.

Annie is trying out for the part of Cleopatra for the new school play. It turns out that Ty is trying out for Antony. Somehow, Ty has turned out to be a jerk, but I’m not sure how that happened, cause I thought all that happened was really Adrianna’s fault before, wasn’t it? Ty and Annie try out for the play together and Annie takes him aside and tells him that she is with Ethan now and he says he is cool with it. He also finds a way to insult her audition.

When Adrianna gets back from her drive, she goes to a clinic. Then we see her show up late for school play auditions. The new drama teacher tells her she can’t audition cause she’s too late, so Adrianna just goes right up there and auditions anyway. She’s really good.

Dixon tells Debbie about his problems with Silver. She tells him to be direct, not to expect Silver to read his mind.

Later that night, Adrianna meets up with Naomi at the beach and tells her what happened, about how she had to just drive while she thought stuff out. Then she went to the clinic to have an abortion, but she couldn’t do it. Oh, not that she couldn’t go through with it, she’s just too far along.

Ryan tells Silver her paper was not bad, and then adds that it was insightful and ambitious. They have a moment where the laugh together a little and then he tells her she can come back to his class.

When the cast list goes up, Annie is not Cleopatra, she is her favorite servant girl instead. Ethan is a eunuch. Adrianna, who did get the part of Cleopatra, is apologising to Kelly and Naomi. They ask who the dad is, since she’s so far along she must have conceived before going into rehab. She tells them there’s really one one person it can be. Just then someone puts his hands over her eyes and says guess who? Antony to her Cleopatra, it’s Ty.

Annie is really depressed about not getting the part of Cleopatra and when Ethan comes to pick her up for the cast party, she says she’s not going. He goes without her. At the party, the new drama teacher kinda comes on to Ryan, but he’s not having any. Silver tells Dixon that she got back into Ryan’s class. She goes on and on until Dixon finally stops her and tells her that he wants to break up.

Later, Annie changes her mind, and calls Ethan asking if he will come back and get her. While they are still on the phone, there is a loud crash and Annie is calling out to Ethan, but he doesn’t answer.
