Reaper is Back, But Not For Long

by

reaperA couple of weeks ago I started a post about the start of the 13-week second season for Reaper. I got sidetracked and never finished it. Now I’m reading that the show has been, very quietly, cancelled.

I’m not surprised, really. One of the things I said in my original, unfinished post was that we haven’t seen this show since May of 2008, and honestly, even with the little “previously on” recap that starts off that episode, I still needed a minute to try to remember where we left everyone at the end of last season. Apparently, things happened that I didn’t even remember, like Sam’s father died? He did? I don’t recall that at all.

Ken Marino, Michael Ian Black

I believe that they are going to finish showing the 13 eps already filmed and waiting, but who knows. Sadly, as much as I liked this show when it first aired, the long wait didn’t help it and I find I don’t really care that it won’t be back. Too bad they couldn’t have kept Michael Ian Black and Ken Marino (the demon neighbors, Steve and Tony) on the show cause that might make me care, at least a little bit, about the show’s passing.

It’s not that I don’t like the cast, because I do. Bret Harrison, Tyler Labine (I hear that he has all ready been cast in the lead role of a new comedy pilot on Fox called Sons of Tucson), Missy Peregrym, Rick Gonzalez and Ray Wise are all great in the show. It just feels like the show lost so much momentum over the year it was off the air, it can’t be regained.

About Watching The CW

The CW was born in September 2006, and inherited a mixture of programming from its parents the WB and UPN. The CW has a diverse line up from Monday night comedy to Friday Night Smackdown. In between the laughs and the wrestling are alternate reality or fantasy based shows (Supernatural, Smallville), ones that are fit to bursting with bright young things (Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill) and don't forget all the wannabes trying to make it in reality programming (The Beauty & the Geek, America's Next Top Model, Pussy Cat Dolls). This blog will review, recap, share spoilers and other cool finds related to the CW's programming.
