Hulu Awards: Best Movie Comedy

by

I’d like to say Yay for a Hulu Awards category where I’m familiar with the nominees.  The next category is Best Movie Comedy.  I’m a fan of the comedy movie.  But here’s the catch.  I’d like to say “yay” but unfortunately, I’ve only seen two of the final five nominees.  Does that seem right to you?  I can just only suppose that most of the other great comedies I’ve seen just haven’t made their way onto Hulu yet.

So, here are the nominees for Best Comedy MovieEddie Murphy: Raw, Ghostbusters, Men In Black, Raising Arizona and Three Amigos.

Without telling you which two I’ve seen, before anything else, actually, I think the winner should be Ghostbusters.  OK, fine, obviously, I’ve seen that one.  But, honestly, I think it’s one of the best ever films of all time.  I love that movie.  So it’s a little dated these days, it’s still an amazingly funny, well-written, well acted film, packed with talent.  You think I’m overstaing it?  I don’t.  It was nominated for Oscars, Grammys, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, Hugos, Golden Screen, Saturn and Young Artist awards.  It won four awards, one of those for best song.  (”Who ya gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS!”)

Face it, the movie is a classic, and regardless of what other movies are in this category against it, Ghostbusters should win.  The End.

Sure, Men in Black got more nominations and more wins, but is it really a classic?  I don’t think so.

As for the other three, Raising Arizona did get one nominations, but nothing else, Three Amigos didn’t even get that  much, and Eddie Murphy: Raw is not really a movie.

Here’s the poll. You know what to do.

About Watching The CW

The CW was born in September 2006, and inherited a mixture of programming from its parents the WB and UPN. The CW has a diverse line up from Monday night comedy to Friday Night Smackdown. In between the laughs and the wrestling are alternate reality or fantasy based shows (Supernatural, Smallville), ones that are fit to bursting with bright young things (Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill) and don't forget all the wannabes trying to make it in reality programming (The Beauty & the Geek, America's Next Top Model, Pussy Cat Dolls). This blog will review, recap, share spoilers and other cool finds related to the CW's programming.
