CW Show Reviews
The next time you think television is all about entertainment, think again. It’s not. Hardly at all, actually, cause it’s all about money. Yes, money is the driving force behind television and broadcasting.
How do I know this? Well, gather round, my children, and I’ll tell you a little story. As I believe I may have mentioned a few days ago, LIN Broadcasting, the parent company of the CW (and CBS) has decided to pull their stations from my cable provider, Time Warner. LIN Broadcasting would like everyone to believe that this is all Time Warner’sfault. But it most empathetically is not. When the contract expired, LIN had the ability to allow their stations to keep playing on Time Warner during the negotiating process, but they instead chose to pull the stations. This is evil.
LIN Broadcasting would like Time Warner to pay them additional monies for the two stations, which is, simply put, highway robbery, since the stations can be viewed for free with an antenna (at least until February 2009) or online. How much more money do they want Time Warner to pay, you may ask? Well, it sounds like nothing, a penny per viewer. But this is really a penny per viewer per day, which could add up quickly, depending upon how many viewers Time Warner has in the area affected by this black out. I think they have something like 1.5 million. And this is not a penny per household, mind you, its per viewer. So that could be $15,000 per day, which Time Warner would then pass along to their customers.
I agree with Time Warner and, honestly, I hope LIN Broadcasting is somehow losing a lot of money in advertising or something by pulling those stations.
But the bottom line is that I’m not forced to wait for the CW shows that I normally review (like 90210, America’s Next Top Model, etc.) to be posted up online somewhere so I can watch them and then review them for you. So don’t go far.

LIN Television is NOT the parent company of The CW. Please research your information before posting. Now your credibility in shot.

Well, according to the person I spoke to at LIN TV (when I called them directly), they are the parent company of CBS and they own the networks upon which the CW is broadcast. In my area that is WNLO. Perhaps I simplified by saying “parent company” but it all amounts to the same thing. LIN is in charge of both networks and whether or not their programing is available on Time Warner.
I do check my facts, Johnny. The question is, do you know what you are talking about?

It appears you have been owned, Jonathan.
