The CW’s 2009 Fall Schedule

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

reapercastI’m so sorry I haven’t been around much, but I’m still sans my laptop and its difficult to get use of a computer to update. Hopefully, this won’t go on much longer. I guess the timing isn’t bad, since the season is pretty much over.

Speaking of the season, the CW posted their Fall Schedule, and as predicted, (more…)

What’s Coming Up On The CW?

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

reaper-cwI’ve been wondering what’s going on with the CW. It seems like there’s been a lot of repeats lately, so I have nothing new to talk about. So I went through the next two weeks to see what’s happening. This is what I found out.

This week, Monday’s shows, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill are repeats. On Tuesday, 90210 is also a repeat, but Privileged is a new ep, the first season finale.

This Week on the CW

Monday, January 5th, 2009

This week marks the return of new episodes for many of our favorite shows on The CW. Plus, one new show.

Here’s the way the week looks. On Monday, January 5, 2009, we get new epsiodes of both Gossip Girl at 8:00 pm (ET) and One Tree Hill at 9:00 pm (ET). I’ve never been a fan of either show, for some reason, but I’m sure there are a lot of people out there, I mean a lot of people, who have been waiting impatiently for both shows to return.

On Tuesday, January 6, 2009, we get to see (more…)

Smallville Memories

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Maybe its because I haven’t watched Smallville from the beginning. Perhaps its that I’ve missed an episode here and there, even for the seasons I have watched. But I just don’t get it.

Like this week, Chloe starts losing her memory like a computer, erasing things and people out of her mind. Supposedly, this is something caused by Brainiac, but I don’t know how or why, exactly. I don’t get Brainiac’s involvement in all this, either, with Chloe, cause I guess I missed that, too. I thought I had seen every ep with Brainiac - the only reason I ever watched a single ep of Smallville in the first place is cause of James Marsters - but apparently, I missed some.

And I wonder, (more…)

What Exactly is the Phantom Zone, Anyway?

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

I admit it. I got way behind on Smallville. It’s never been one of my favorite shows, but I watch it cause I feel like I should. It should be a favorite. It really should. It has everything I would be looking for, except that I think the writing is bad. Sorry, I just do. Sometimes its just so stiff and serious, I can’t get past it.

But I am liking it more. Just not enough to go back and watch the three episodes I missed when I had no CW on my TV. To be fair, I did try to go back and watch them. But I kept having computer issues and I just ran out of time, energy and interest. I did, however, watch the last two weeks of shows, “Identity” and “Bloodline.” I was behind on those, too, but I had DVRd them and I finally got a chance to watch.

I’ll admit, (more…)

Supernatural Air Guitar

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

I loved last week’s episode of Supernatural. It’s always great when its very Dean-centric, cause I so love Dean.

I won’t bother trying to recap it at this late date, since there’s another new ep tomorrow. I’m excited about that, too, cause I can finally watch it on TV instead of waiting for someone to upload it and then having to watch it on my laptop. We actually found out by accident that CBS and the CW were back on our TV. My husband was just flipping around through the stations and the local news was on CBS (instead of the college football that has been on there since October 3). It was a happy moment.

I’m also gonna have to get all caught up on Smallville, since I never did get a chance to watch it online. I wanted to, but I just never did. But now that the CW is back, I’ll make the effort to go find the three episodes I missed. Almost probably.

One of the best parts of last week’s episode was the little trick that Jared Padalecki played on Jensen Ackles. You may have already seen this floating around, but if you didn’t, you have to watch. It’s really funny. In the actual scene on the show, Dean is laying on the front seat of the car listening to music. The song is Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger, and you see Dean’s arms starting to play the drums, when Sam comes up, knocks on the roof and then they talk. However, apparently, in one take, Jared never came up to the car, so Jensen just kept on playing and lip syncing along with the song.

Enjoy:

Confusing Smallville

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

This week’s ep of Smallville was a little different for me. Maybe for them, too. Actually, it was just confusing, I guess.

It revolved around Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley), who had been poisoned while at some party, along with his date, who’s name I can’t remember. But she dies anyway and no one seems to care overly much, so it hardly matters. Oliver manages to tell Clark and Chloe, before he succumbs to the poison’s effects too much, that he only has 12 hours to live.

Smallville Was A Blast

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Smallville was OK this week. I’m not saying that the dialogue or acting was any better, but at least I found the story line interesting. Or part of the story line.

I really like Chloe (Allison Mack), and this week, she meets up with a cute ENT after a bus explosion outside of the Daily Planet’s offices. Even though she’s engaged to marry Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore) - something she has not yet mentioned to Clark (Tom Welling) - she still has a little flirtation with the cutie. He is clearly interested in her, too. From the previews for next week, it looks like we’re gonna see more of him as well.

In other Smallville news, its Clark’s first day on the job at the Daily Planet and, of course, he is immediately at the scene of the bus explosion helping people. One woman he helps turns out to be his new boss. She’s thankful, but also a little scary, cause she wants Clark watched.

Chloe and her cute ENT meet up cause they are helping a young girl who was either on the bus or on the street nearby. At first they try to help her, but she doesn’t make it too easy. Then they realize that she also has a meteor power and that she actually caused the bus explosion. They still want to help her, now even more, but she’s not trustworthy, and by the end is working for the bad guys.

As strange as it sounds, I’m actually looking forward to seeing Smallville next week.

Smallville Season Premiere

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Here I am doing what I do every year. I watch the season premiere of Smallville and I just hope. I live in hope.

You see, Smallville is one of those shows that I want to like. I should like it. I have friends that like it. But it just doesn’t really do it for me. I’ve watched entire seasons. (But I have yet to go back and watch since the beginning, which is something I keep telling myself I’m going to do, cause that way I can be fair in my evaluation.)

For me, I think the bottom line is that the show is weak in dialogue and content once you compare it to something like Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel. Those shows had wacky stuff going on, but they always made sure you realized that when things were stupid, they knew they were stupid. Stupid was what they were going for. But on some of these other shows, Smallville included (and I always felt this way about Charmed, too) they have stupid story lines or unbelievable villains who have to speak badly written lines, and they are completely serious. I can’t take that.

More on The CW’s Fall Schedule

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

We’ve already had a peek at the and chatted about some of the new and returning shows, so the question now is what are the exact dates and times when the shows I care about are coming back. Well, The Futon Critic has an amazing list that you should check out here. It’s an incredible list, which includes every show, new and returning (and even cancelled), when it airs, what network its on, and how many eps there are. Awesome!

As for the CW, returning this Fall are America’s Next Top Model, Everybody Hates Chris, The Game, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Smallville and Supernatural, with Reaper coming back as a mid-season show in 2009.

Cancelled shows from last season include Aliens in America, Beauty and the Geek, Crowned: The Mother of all Pageants, CW Now, Girlfriends, Life is Wild, Online Nation and Pussycat Dolls: Girlicious. Farmer Wants a Wife is listed as on hiatus or fate to be determined.

As mentioned, there is a full slate of new shows for Fall, which are 90210, Easy Money, In Harm’s Way, Privileged, Stylista, Surviving Suburbia and Valentine, Inc., plus one new show, 13: Fear is Real, scheduled for 2009.

The CW 2008-2009 Schedule is Here!

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

cw-logo.jpgThe CW has posted their 2008-2009 season primtime schedule:

9:00-10:00 PM ONE TREE HILL

TUESDAY
8:00-9:00 PM 90210 (New Series)
9:00-10:00 PM SURVIVING THE FILTHY RICH (New Series)

FRIDAY
8:00-8:30 PM EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS
8:30-9:00 PM THE GAME
9:00-10:00 PM AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL (Encore Presentation)

Notably missing from this schedule are Aliens in America, Beauty and the Geek (just when I started watching it!), Farmer Wants a Wife, Girlfriends, Pussycat Dolls, Life is Wild and WWE Friday Night Smackdown.

It may appear that Reaper is also missing, but don’t worry, it’s coming back mid-season. So we are losing seven shows, and only gaining three, but I think these are good decisions. Maybe annoying reality TV is on the way out, which is a good thing. And apparently, at least on the CW, it’s being replaced with young adult soaps, which can also be a good thing. I guess we’ll find out.

Here’s a link back to the CW blog, where they have lots more info on the shows and what’s happening, as well.

robeestes.gifI was surprised to see that they are reviving everyone’s favorite zip code in 90210. I wasn’t a huge fan of the original series, but I was certainly aware of it and I think it will be interesting to see how they have updated and modernized the show. I’m also interested cause I heard Rob Estes is in it and I’m in love with him. And I mean, really.

In any case, it looks like the CW has a great season set up for us and I’m looking forward to checking out the new shows. As for this summer, I plan to also try to catch up on some of the shows from this season that I just didn’t get a chance to watch the first time around. When I do, I’ll let you know all about. You count on that!

Reaper’s Coming Out

Monday, March 31st, 2008

reaper2.jpg
I watched the past three new eps of Reaper. They were pretty good. I have really enjoyed the addition to the cast, at least for a couple of episodes, of Michael Ian Black and Ken Marino, as Steve and Tony, the gay demon neighbors, of Sam, Sock and Ben in their new apartment. These two are both pretty funny and they work really well together. I especially remember Ken Marino from Veronica Mars, where he played Vinnie Van Lowe, the more disreputable PI in town, who sometimes helped Veronica out, but who couldn’t really be trusted. Among other things, Black is well known as the main character on the Sierra Mist commercials. Both Black and Merino have also been together in other shows and movies. I remember them both from Wet Hot American Summer, one of those really stupid funny movies that you either love or hate. But in any case, I hope they are still on the show when the new eps start back up.

This week, Reaper moves back to Tuesdays at 9 pm (ET), and, apparently, re-airs the last three episodes. So if you missed them on Thursdays, you have another chance. This leaves the Thursday at 9 pm slot free for Supernatural to return, albeit only in reruns until April 24, when the last 4 episodes of this seasons start airing. Reaper comes back with 5 more new eps for this season, starting on April 22.

Smallville also begins airing the last 6 news episodes of this season on April 17.

Smallville Hits It’s Stride

Friday, March 14th, 2008

stride.jpgTalk about product placement. What do you think Stride had to pay to be so prominently featured in this week’s episode of Smallville? I nearly cringed at the obvious advertising. The ep itself was about gum which was laced with kryptonite, which made Pete Ross, who found a pack and was chewing it, turn into a super hero. There were big Stride signs all over a warehouse, where secret concerts were held. Pretty shameless promotion, really. And apparently the only group that played there was OneRepublic, since they seemed to be there every time someone entered the place.

chloe.jpg
Chloe had a line, which she had to deliver with a straight face, about “chewing that next piece.” Yikes. Does Stride really need that? Is the mere thought that you might end up with some kryptonite gum gonna make more people buy Stride? (You won’t find any, by the way, cause there was only one box worth and Clark got rid of it.)

Here’s a question that as far as I could tell they didn’t answer on the ep (although I was so busy being turned off, maybe I missed it) but how did that one box come to be kryptonite-licious in the first place? Also, what were the chances, in a warehouse full of boxes of gum packets, that Pete would chose that one to rip off a package from? Maybe I’m being too hard on this show, but its just so ridiculous and they take it so seriously.

What amazes me most of all, is that someone wrote this ep. I mean, they thought it all out and then had someone put up those big Stride posters. I just don’t get that.

CW Renewals and Don’t Forget Beauty and The Geek Premiere Tonight

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

supernatural.jpgIn my Internet travels today, I came across an article detailing the shows that the CW is renewing for next season.

The show I’m most excited about is Supernatural. I was nervous and so was the show’s creator, Eric Kripke. But luckily for all of us, the CW has renewed Supernatural for a fourth season!! And there’s still new eps to air this year, so as far as I’m concerned, its all good.

The CW also renewed Smallville for it’s 8th (and probably last) season. I’ve read elsewhere that they are probably gonna use this season to tie up all the ends and bring Superman up to true Clark Kent adulthood. I’m just not sure how they plan to make him a nerd with glasses.

Other shows renewed by the CW are Gossip Girl for its 2nd full season, One Tree Hill for a Season 6, and sitcom, Everybody Hates Chris. Also, America’s Next Top Model was renewed for both an 11th and 12th cycle. No word yet on new shows Reaper and Aliens in America. I’d like to see Reaper renewed cause I think the show has potential. Don’t forget that there are still three new eps of Reaper to watch starting this week on Thursday, March 13 at 9:00 pm. You should check it out and see what you think if you haven’t seen it yet.

beautyandthegeek_lrg.jpgFinally, don’t forget Beauty and the Geek. The fifth season premieres tonight, Tuesday, March 11 at 8 pm. It’s worrisome that it would premiere opposite the Top 12 singing from the Lennon/McCartney songbook on American Idol, but that’s why we have DVRs, right?

What’s Going on at the CW?

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Happily, now that the strike is over, we are gonna get some new shows and new eps of returning shows!! Yay us!! Honestly, I think I held up pretty well during the strike, all things considered, but it’s still good to have some new shows starting up. I’ve done a little research about it and I’m getting some conflicting information. However, I’m ignoring whatever doesn’t make sense and trying to give you what I think is right. While some of this might be a little off, I think it’s close. See, some shows, like Smallville and Reaper, still had some pre-strike eps to air, so those air, then the show is off for a couple of weeks, and then they come back with more eps. Or at least that’s what I’m getting from this.

aliens-america-01.jpgSo, here you go, here’s a list of what’s (very probably) happening in the near future on the CW:

Sunday, March 2
Everybody Hates Chris - 8:00 pm (12 more eps)
Aliens in America - 8:30 pm (8 more eps)

Tuesday, March 11
Beauty and the Geek - 8:00 pm

Thursday, March 13
Smallville - 8:00 pm (3 more eps)
Reaper - 9:00 pm (3 more eps)

onetreehill-cast-03s.jpgSunday, March 23
The Game - 9:30 pm (9 more eps)

Monday, April 14
One Tree Hill - 9:00 pm (6 more eps)

Thursday, April 17
Smallville - 8:00 pm (5 more eps)

Monday, April 21
Gossip Girl - 8:00 pm (5 more eps)

Tuesday, April 22
Reaper - 8:00 pm (5 more eps)

Thursday, April 24
Supernatural - 9:00 pm (4 more eps)

gossip-girl.jpgSorry if you missed the new eps airing last night. But remember, you can watch full episodes of the any of these shows, once they’ve aired, on the CW website.

About Watching The CW

The CW was born in September 2006, and inherited a mixture of programming from its parents the WB and UPN. The CW has a diverse line up from Monday night comedy to Friday Night Smackdown. In between the laughs and the wrestling are alternate reality or fantasy based shows (Supernatural, Smallville), ones that are fit to bursting with bright young things (Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill) and don't forget all the wannabes trying to make it in reality programming (The Beauty & the Geek, America's Next Top Model, Pussy Cat Dolls). This blog will review, recap, share spoilers and other cool finds related to the CW's programming.
