The CW’s 2009 Fall Schedule

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

reapercastI’m so sorry I haven’t been around much, but I’m still sans my laptop and its difficult to get use of a computer to update. Hopefully, this won’t go on much longer. I guess the timing isn’t bad, since the season is pretty much over.

Speaking of the season, the CW posted their Fall Schedule, and as predicted, (more…)

What’s Coming Up On The CW?

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

reaper-cwI’ve been wondering what’s going on with the CW. It seems like there’s been a lot of repeats lately, so I have nothing new to talk about. So I went through the next two weeks to see what’s happening. This is what I found out.

This week, Monday’s shows, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill are repeats. On Tuesday, 90210 is also a repeat, but Privileged is a new ep, the first season finale.

This Week on the CW

Monday, January 5th, 2009

This week marks the return of new episodes for many of our favorite shows on The CW. Plus, one new show.

Here’s the way the week looks. On Monday, January 5, 2009, we get new epsiodes of both Gossip Girl at 8:00 pm (ET) and One Tree Hill at 9:00 pm (ET). I’ve never been a fan of either show, for some reason, but I’m sure there are a lot of people out there, I mean a lot of people, who have been waiting impatiently for both shows to return.

On Tuesday, January 6, 2009, we get to see (more…)

I Gave Privileged Another Chance

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

I surprised myself. I purposely didn’t DVR Privileged this week, cause I was fairly certain I had no desire to see any more of it. I planned to watch Fringe. But then, for some reason, I found myself watching the CW at 9:00 pm on Tuesday. I’m not even sure how I got there.

I can’t even really say I liked it better than the last two weeks, but usually once I hit that third episode of a show, I feel committed. I don’t think that’s what’s happening here. I hope not, cause I really still don’t like the show. Although, this episode was a little less annoying than the last couple. I may even watch again next week. We’ll see.

This week, Rose finds out that she has to repeat her freshman year of high school and she’s not happy cause it will make her uncool. Megan goes to school and meets the headmaster, a young man apparently filling in for his father (is that even legal?) who has been ill. Of course, he asks Megan out (again, I ask, is that ethical?) and although she turns him down the first time, she eventually calls him and goes out with him at the end. But not until some unfunny hilarity ensures.

After Megan has presented a study plan to the headmaster that she and Rose are going to follow, and which will allow Rose to stay a Sophmore, Sage convinces Rose to cut class for the afternoon so they can go buy new dresses for a party that night. Eventually, Megan has to track them down to a party on some rich kid’s yacht and, of course, the yacht takes off with her stuck on it for the duration. (Apparently, Megan has never watched a sitcom before and didn’t realize that that was bound to happen.)

In the end, however, Rose learns that if she wants to eventually get in to Duke, no one will be able to buy her way in, she will have to study. So she puts her foot down and tells Sage to go to the next party without her while she studies. Sage, cause she does love her sister, ends up staying with her and helping her study. Megan looks on approvingly.

The End.

Abusing the Privileged

Friday, September 19th, 2008

I gave it another shot. I watched Privileged again this week. But I’m still not impressed. I can’t figure it out. It’s definitely not funny. At all. It looks like it’s gonna be funny when you see the commercials, but that’s just cause they show you people saying funny lines. But when you see the show the funny lines aren’t all that funny.

But even beyond all that, I hate the people. Every single one of them, pretty much. They are nearly all so annoying, I want to slap them. The only character that is even the least little bit sympathetic is Charlie (Michael Cassidy).

The main character, Megan Smith (Joanna Garcia), is just super annoyingly chipper. And not in a good way. The two rich sisters, Sage (Ashley Newbrough) and Rose (Lucy Hale), are not believable. Sage is a complete and utter brat who clearly didn’t get enough spankings as a child. Lucy is just a big baby.

The story line is apparently going to be the same thing every week. Sage and Rose get into some trouble because Megan is clearly not watching them closely enough (she’s way too busy dealing with her own issues to pay attention to them) and then Megan has to get them out of it, but she still ends up getting in trouble with their grandmother cause she’s not doing what she was hired to do.

That almost didn’t make sense. But I know what I mean.

Bottom line, I don’t really think I’m gonna be watching again next week. I just hate them all so much, it makes my blood pressure go up and I really don’t need that.

Privileged Communication

Friday, September 12th, 2008

I was going to try to do a recap of the premiere ep of Privileged. But I was busy, so I had to watch it while I was doing some other stuff. Since I was still playing catch up with all other other stuff I had recorded from last week - I still have shows to watch - I didn’t even get to watch it when it aired. In any case, it wasn’t that great.

I expected it to be kinda funny, but it was mostly just whiny. Or something. I don’t think I’m explaining this right. First of all, the premise has been done to death. Poor girl with out-of-control social consciousness, who thinks she’s the next great news reporter or journalist or something, loses job cause she’s an idiot (that’s just my take, of course) and gets job with rich family as tutor to spoiled teens. No one even seems to care that she has no degree in teaching or, quite possibly, no aptitude for it. Again, that’s just me.

Privileged

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Next on my list of new shows on the CW is Privileged, an hour long comedy that premieres Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 9:00 pm.

JoAnna Garcia (from Reba), is Megan Smith, a 23 year old Yale graduate, who wants to become a world famous journalist, even though she’s working for a tabloid rag. Megan is described as “relentless positive,” which is a good thing, when she gets fired, and accepts a position as the live-in tutor for the headstrong teen twin granddaughters of wealthy cosmetics mogul, Laurel Limoges (played by Anne Archer).

Megan is thrown into the heady world of wealth and power in Palm Beach and meets the girls, Rose (played by Lucy Kate Hale from Bionic Woman) and Sage (Ashley Newbrough), who are beautiful, rebellious and less-than-thrilled with their new tutor. Megan, however, is determined.

About Watching The CW

The CW was born in September 2006, and inherited a mixture of programming from its parents the WB and UPN. The CW has a diverse line up from Monday night comedy to Friday Night Smackdown. In between the laughs and the wrestling are alternate reality or fantasy based shows (Supernatural, Smallville), ones that are fit to bursting with bright young things (Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill) and don't forget all the wannabes trying to make it in reality programming (The Beauty & the Geek, America's Next Top Model, Pussy Cat Dolls). This blog will review, recap, share spoilers and other cool finds related to the CW's programming.
