Five girls are left on America’s Next Top Model: Elina, Marjorie, Analeigh, McKey and Samantha. It’s funny how when you start out, you think completely different people will make it to the end.
This week the girls have their go-sees. They have four hours to get to five places, or as many as they can in that time, and they still have to get back no later than 5 pm or they will be disqualified. Marjorie got lost from the beginning and lost over an hour of time wandering around looking for the first place. Meanwhile, the other girls had each gone on two go-sees. When Marjorie finally makes it to the first place, she doesn’t do too well. One place didn’t like Elina’s tatoos. I get that, cause my background is all in law offices and back in the day, a person with tats or piercings would never be hired. Everyone seemed to like McKey and Analeigh best.
After Marjorie does only two go-sees, she decides to go back to the start so at least she won’t miss the 5 pm deadline. Analeigh gets back next, she made it to three, and then Elina who made it to four. Samantha, who made it to four, is last back. Expect for McKey who does not make it back before 5 pm and is therefore disqualified. Other than that, she would have won the challenge. The clients thought Samantha was too commerical, Elina had too many tatoos, Marjorie was too nervous and hunched over and Analeigh looked good and all the clients liked her, but may have tried too hard to please the clients. I’m not sure what that even means, actually. Analeigh was the winner and she gets $18,000 in prizes (clothes and accessories) from the clients.
Elina, of course, thinks she should have won. But I’m not sure why exactly that she feels like she was that great. Analeigh, proving how much nicer she is than any of the others, spends time trying to convince Marjorie how beautiful and modely she is, and trying to build up her confidence before the photo shoot.
Tyra shoots them, first in their own clothes and without makeup and then all dressed and made up. Marjorie is still so nervous and Elina gets told that she needs to cut her nails off.
Once again, if I was losing someone, it would be Marjorie or Elina. Or maybe Samantha. But Marjorie is just so nervous and doesn’t relate well to people, so how will she ever book jobs?
In panel, Samantha’s natural pic is really good, as is her glam shot. So I guess she does deserve to stay. Analeigh’s natural pic was just OK, but her glam shot was great. Marjorie did great in the natural test shot, but the rest of the film wasn’t good. Her glam shot was so great, it’s hard to believe it was her. Elina’s pics were both good, but I didn’t think they were incredible or anything. McKey looked good in both shots. She was told that she would have booked all four jobs at the go-sees she went to, the only one of them to do that. Marjorie didn’t book any jobs, and the other girls each booked two jobs.
In eliminations, they were called in this order: Samantha, McKey, Analeigh. The bottom two are Elina and Marjorie. Ah, our two Europeans. Tyra tells them that they both have such potential but they get in their own way. Elina has so much confidence and a beautiful face that photographs so well, but she holds on too tightly and that diminishes her beauty. Marjorie is exquisite and has so much model potential, but she lets her nerves get the better of her.
So who stays? Marjorie stays. I’m pretty happy about that, actually, although I’m not sure how much longer the kid can take it before she has a nervous breakdown.
So good bye to Elina.
