The CW’s 2009 Fall Schedule

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

reapercastI’m so sorry I haven’t been around much, but I’m still sans my laptop and its difficult to get use of a computer to update. Hopefully, this won’t go on much longer. I guess the timing isn’t bad, since the season is pretty much over.

Speaking of the season, the CW posted their Fall Schedule, and as predicted, (more…)

What’s Coming Up On The CW?

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

reaper-cwI’ve been wondering what’s going on with the CW. It seems like there’s been a lot of repeats lately, so I have nothing new to talk about. So I went through the next two weeks to see what’s happening. This is what I found out.

This week, Monday’s shows, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill are repeats. On Tuesday, 90210 is also a repeat, but Privileged is a new ep, the first season finale.

Wednesday is (more…)

A 90210 Valentine

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

90210It’s Valentine’s Day on 90210. The ep opens with Naomi living in her amazingly swanky hotel and being waited on hand and foot by all the staff. There is a new guy working at the coffee bar, and she watches him put a loud drunk with an I’m-Important compex, in his place.

Silver is stressing about what to do that will make for a special valentine for Dixon. She’s a little weird to watch now, cause she’s acting all lovey dovey and ooey gooey. Silver overhears Naomi saying how amazing the food is at the restaurant in her hotel and decides that is where she and Dixon should go to eat. The place is completely booked and Silver tries everything, including bribes to get a table. When she finds out that hotel guests can get a table, she approaches Naomi. At first Naomi doesn’t want to help her, but when Silver tells Naomi that she is in love, Naomi gets her the table.

Naomi and Silver go to the bar to have a drink and the cute coffee bar guy is there. Naomi asks his name - its Liam. He’s just moved to LA and they find out he doens’t have a girlfriend. Silver talks in this weird Cockney accent, cause she says it makes you sound older.

Annie and Ethan are (more…)

Accidental Love on 90210

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

silverIt was good to have 90210 back last night. I missed it when there was a repeat last week. Especially since we left Ethan in a car accident. I was starting to think they were going to let him be hurt or dead or something. I even worried for a minute.

Anyway, this week on 90210, we find out that Ethan is fine, but the girl who’s car he hit, Rhonda (Rhonda, really?) had a collapsed lung and needed some sort of surgery. He feels really bad and overcompensates by visiting her daily and blowing off play practice. He actually feels even worse when he realizes that Rhonda goes to West Beverly High with him and he never even noticed her. They are even in a class together. But don’t be too hard on Ethan, cause it turns out little Rhonda is helping herself, as she is basically pretending to be worse off than she really is to keep Ethan feeling bad and paying attention to her.

Meanwhile, Adrianna gets up the nerve (more…)

Ryan is Back in the 90210

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

90210So this week on 90210, Ryan Matthews is back in town. But he’s changed. First he tells Harry that he might not be teaching for long, then he shoots down Kelly when she tries to be friendly, and then, he tells Silver (or, as he calls her, Miss Silver) that he has had her transferred out of his class. She doesn’t seem to comprehend why, but then he points out that he doesn’t feel he can be objective given the fact that she called him a child molester on her blog and nearly got him fired. Oh.

Meanwhile, Naomi and Kelly are at odds over what Adrianna should do about the baby. Kelly thinks she should have it and Naomi thinks she should have an abortion. Adrianna has no idea what to do, so she gets in her car, all hepped up on coffee and protein bars, and just drives down the coast all night. When she almost has an accident, she pulls the car over to the side of the road, and pulls herself together before heading back.

Silver is so angry about Mr. Matthews kicking her out of class and just doesn’t seem to care when Dixon explains that she’s so intense, but she sometimes hurts people. He is really talking about himself, but she just doesn’t get it. Instead, she decides to do the homework assignment from his class and do it so well that he will beg her to come back to class. Kelly interferes with Ryan because she feels that he’s being unfair to Silver because of her and she tells him off for sleeping with Brenda. Which, as I see it, is none of her business since she didn’t want him. Ryan tells her he’s burned out and he can’t be the kind of teacher he was before, since everyone thought the worst of him. He’s just going to punch a clock until the end of the year. Kelly then tells him that he’s still a teacher and since Silver went to great effort to write a paper for class she’s not even in, he should at least read it.

Naomi finds out that her mom has really run off to New York to get over all the badness and that her dad is selling the house out from under her. He invites her to come back to the beach and stay with him and his new girlfriend, Gail. That doesn’t work out so well, especially when Naomi goes back to her own house to get her favorite jeans and finds her dad cheating on Gail with the realtor. The next day she tells her dad off and moves into a hotel.

Annie is trying out for the part of Cleopatra for the new school play. It turns out that Ty is trying out for Antony. Somehow, Ty has turned out to be a jerk, but I’m not sure how that happened, cause I thought all that happened was really Adrianna’s fault before, wasn’t it? Ty and Annie try out for the play together and Annie takes him aside and tells him that she is with Ethan now and he says he is cool with it. He also finds a way to insult her audition.

When Adrianna gets back from her drive, she goes to a clinic. Then we see her show up late for school play auditions. The new drama teacher tells her she can’t audition cause she’s too late, so Adrianna just goes right up there and auditions anyway. She’s really good.

Dixon tells Debbie about his problems with Silver. She tells him to be direct, not to expect Silver to read his mind.

Later that night, Adrianna meets up with Naomi at the beach and tells her what happened, about how she had to just drive while she thought stuff out. Then she went to the clinic to have an abortion, but she couldn’t do it. Oh, not that she couldn’t go through with it, she’s just too far along.

Ryan tells Silver her paper was not bad, and then adds that it was insightful and ambitious. They have a moment where the laugh together a little and then he tells her she can come back to his class.

When the cast list goes up, Annie is not Cleopatra, she is her favorite servant girl instead. Ethan is a eunuch. Adrianna, who did get the part of Cleopatra, is apologising to Kelly and Naomi. They ask who the dad is, since she’s so far along she must have conceived before going into rehab. She tells them there’s really one one person it can be. Just then someone puts his hands over her eyes and says guess who? Antony to her Cleopatra, it’s Ty.

Annie is really depressed about not getting the part of Cleopatra and when Ethan comes to pick her up for the cast party, she says she’s not going. He goes without her. At the party, the new drama teacher kinda comes on to Ryan, but he’s not having any. Silver tells Dixon that she got back into Ryan’s class. She goes on and on until Dixon finally stops her and tells her that he wants to break up.

Later, Annie changes her mind, and calls Ethan asking if he will come back and get her. While they are still on the phone, there is a loud crash and Annie is calling out to Ethan, but he doesn’t answer.

90210’s Having a Heatwave

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

This week on 90210, Annie tells Ethan she is ready. Well, first, some other things happen.

Tabitha is trying for a part in a miniseries and, even in the midst of a California heatwave, she keeps turning the heat up to protect her throat. She and Debbie are very unhappy with each other at this point. Harry is pretty much refusing to get into the middle of it. And that makes Debbie even more unhappy. To make matters even worse, Tabitha surprises Annie and Dixon with a car, but, much to their chagrin, Debbie refuses to let them keep it.

Dixon starts getting less and less happy with with Silver and how she makes fun of everything. Including when she mocks Ethan and Annie saying “I love you.” He gets advice from Navid that the reason she behaves that way is because she wants to be told the same thing. When Dixon finally tells Silver he loves her, on the beach during a party, she doesn’t react the way he expects. They fight and Silver walks off angry. When she tries to talk to Dixon later back at school he’s very cool towards her.

It’s Gospel Music Time on 90210

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

I knew it!! Well, I didn’t know that Dixon could sing, but I knew some other stuff. And it’s not like he was an amazing vocalist or whatever, I mean, he’s no Pavarotti (or what ever the gospel music equivalent of a Pavarotti is - Andre Crouch? Kirk Franklin?), but he can carry a tune and he has a pleasant enough voice.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. This week on 90210, those crazy kids are all back and up to their old tricks.

Adrianna asks Kelly to ask Brenda to come with her (Adrianna) to her rehab group meeting, as a person who was instrumental in helping her get clean. At first Kelly is hesitant to talk to Brenda and when she finally does, Brenda doesn’t seem too receptive. What we know and Kelly doesn’t is that Brenda just got some bad news from her doctor. We don’t know what it is, but we know Brenda is upset.

Brenda does show up, though, and Adrianna is very pleased to have her there. Then Adrianna finds out that Hank - someone we’ve never heard of before, as far as I recall - a former rehab buddy she has been trying to contact, has fallen off the wagon when he learns that he is HIV positive. Adrianna is now worried, since she slept with him a couple of times while in rehab. Kelly and Brenda take her to a clinic to be tested. Luckily, her HIV test is negative. But her joy is short-lived, when the doctor tells her she is pregnant. Its at this point that Brenda abruptly leaves, with Adrianna crying on Kelly’s shoulder. When Kelly tracks Brenda down later to see why she acted so badly, Brenda tells Kelly that she can’t get pregnant and she was feeling jealous of Adrianna. Brenda then tells Kelly she wants to adopt. (Hmmm, do I smell a plot line, with Brenda adopting Adrianna’s baby?)

This Week on the CW

Monday, January 5th, 2009

This week marks the return of new episodes for many of our favorite shows on The CW. Plus, one new show.

Here’s the way the week looks. On Monday, January 5, 2009, we get new epsiodes of both Gossip Girl at 8:00 pm (ET) and One Tree Hill at 9:00 pm (ET). I’ve never been a fan of either show, for some reason, but I’m sure there are a lot of people out there, I mean a lot of people, who have been waiting impatiently for both shows to return.

On Tuesday, January 6, 2009, we get to see (more…)

The Party’s Over

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

So on 90210 this week, the episode starts right where it left off last week, with Naomi and Annie fighting on the doorstep outside of Annie’s Sweet 16 party. Sean - the child of Harry and Tracy - shows up and introduces himself. It’s kinda awkward with them all sitting around talking to Sean, but it gets even worse when Tracy shows up and starts calling him “my son.” She and Naomi are so irritatingly annoying this ep.

Dixon is getting more and more upset about Sean being there, because he feels like Harry is connecting with his “real” son. It comes to a head at a regional soccer match, when Dixon is playing really badly and Harry pulls him out of the game. Dixon tells him off, and then heads to the locker room to cool down. Harry follows him in there. (Which did seem a little strange, I mean, can the coach just leave in the middle of the championship game and go hang out in the locker room?) But anyway, Dixon tells him how he feels, Harry apologizes and everyone is happy. There is also some discussion about Dixon finding his roots. Oh, and there is a cute little cheerleader who’s trying to flirt with Dixon. It’s very discreet, but I sense trouble to come.

Annie’s Super Sweet 16 Karaoke Party

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Tuesday night’s 90210 was Annie’s sweet 16 birthday party. But not everyone was happy. You’ll recall that last week Naomi saw Annie and Ethan kissing at school. Well, Naomi decides to get even. Pretending that she doesn’t know anything about it, she takes Annie out to buy a dress for her party. Then she surprises Annie by bringing Jason, her ex from Kansas, to LA to be at her party. Naomi has also planned a pre-party dinner the day before Annie’s birthday for her, Ethan, Annie, Jason, Silver and Dixon. Its very uncomfortable and Annie and Ethan try to talk together separately, but Naomi keeps butting in and asking Jason all sorts of embarrassing questions. That night before bed, Jason admits that he still thinks about Annie and still has feelings for her. He even (more…)

Party at Silver’s

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

This week on 90210, Harry and Debbie tell Annie and Dixon about Harry’s son with Tracy.  Annie does not take it well and Dixon seems a little concerned about Harry having another, biological, son.  Tracy also tells Naomi, who starts calling Annie “sister.”

Silver, knowing that her sister is coming back next week, decides to throw a little slumber party, just her, Annie, Naomi and Adrianna.  But, as often happens when teens have a small, unsupervised party, the group grows and grows.  Annie, who has slipped out of the house after a fight with Harry when he forbade her to go to the party, gets really drunk and then ends up kissing Ethan in a bedroom.  Ethan has suggested that they keep their relationship secret from Naomi.

Naomi, meanwhile, starts a flirtation with Ozzie at the party, but then when he realizes that she likes to play games, he says he’s not interested in games so he leaves.  Naomi feels bad about it, and goes looking for Annie, who was supposed to be keeping Ozzie’s friend busy while she was with Ozzie.  She almost walks in on Ethan and Annie, but Silver stops her.

George tries to hit on Kimberly, and she tells him to get lost, and leaves the party.  Kimberly calls Harry to tell him about the party, and calls Ryan for a ride home.  But then George sees Kimberly getting into Ryan’s car.  Then George uses the information to try to blackmail Ryan to give him an A in his class.  Unfortunately, Harry has to put Ryan on paid leave until Kimberly is gone.

Even though Navid has done such romantic things for Adrianna, like sorting through a big bag of jellybellies to get her all the popcorn flavored ones, she begins to think that he expects something from her in return for all he has done.  So at the party, she comes on to Navid and offers sex in payment.  Navid is really offended that she would think he was that kind of person, and he leaves.  Then at school, Adrianna approaches him and apologizes for what she thought, telling him she would still like to be with him, if he wants to (she’s having fun and “he’s an amazing kisser”).  At first, it looks like he is going to walk away, but then he asks her to walk with him.

At the party, Harry shows up and sends everyone home.  He then goes looking for Annie, who pours out all her disappointment and how upset she is about his secret son.  Also, that she vomited on her really expensive new boots.  They make up, though, and he carries her out of the party.

Back at school, Annie tells Ethan that she is not happy keeping their relationship a secret from Naomi and that they have to tell her, no matter what happens. He agrees and then they kiss.  Naomi, meanwhile, goes up to Ozzie and tells him she does not want to play games, because she really likes him.  He doesn’t seem to believe her at first, but then he gives her his number and tells her to call him, not in three days or a week, but just call him.  Naomi waits until he turns the corner, and then dials his number.  While she’s waiting for him to answer, she walks down the hall a bit and randomly looks into a classroom.  She sees Annie and Ethan, and just ends up hanging up the phone and looking like she’s about to cry.

Homecoming and Rehab at West Beverly Hills High

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Hopefully, I’ve watched my last ep of 90210 on the computer and from now on I can watch them all on the TV. It wasn’t as much fun as you might think for me to not have the CW on the TV. Sure, you can eventually watch the shows online, but you’re at the mercy of some other person, a complete stranger, to upload the show you want to watch online somewhere. And then you have to find it.

Anyway, some may recall that the last new ep - Hollywood Forever - was really awesome. Or at least I thought so. Well, this ep, There’s No Place Like Homecoming, was equally as good. In a complete side note, I saw that the random person (Cherilyn Wilson) who was listed as being in at least 12 episodes of the show is now marked down to 3 on IMDB. Clearly, someone read this blog, and straightened out.

So back to Homecoming. (more…)

Hollywood Forever on 90210

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

I loved this week’s episode of 90210. I’m not even sure what exactly made it seem so much better than other weeks, but I found myself a bit dissatisfied when it ended. Not with the show, you understand, but just that it had ended. Let’s see how much I can remember to tell you about. I can’t give as thorough a recap as usual, since I couldn’t DVR it, since I don’t have the CW anymore, so I’ll just do my best.

Annie and Ethan get partnered up in health class to be the parents of a baby. Ethan is a stay at home mom and Annie is an attorney. *giggle* They therefore have to spend a lot of time together and end up at Silver’s half-birthday, which is in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery where they are showing Psycho on a crypt wall. At one point, Ethan almost kisses her, but they get interrupted by the big finish scene in the movie.

Silver loves horror films and she is trying to get Dixon interested, too, but he just doesn’t like them. He even falls asleep at her house when they were together watching them. But after he sees Psycho, he changes his mind.

Annie and Adrianna both try out for a part in a movie, (more…)

CW Show Reviews

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

The next time you think television is all about entertainment, think again. It’s not. Hardly at all, actually, cause it’s all about money. Yes, money is the driving force behind television and broadcasting.

How do I know this?  Well, gather round, my children, and I’ll tell you a little story. As I believe I may have mentioned a few days ago, LIN Broadcasting, the parent company of the CW (and CBS) has decided to pull their stations from my cable provider, Time WarnerLIN Broadcasting would like everyone to believe that this is all Time Warner’sfault.  But it most empathetically is not.  When the contract expired, LIN had the ability to allow their stations to keep playing on Time Warner during the negotiating process, but they instead chose to pull the stations.  This is evil.

Modeling 90210

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

If there was a theme to this week’s episode of 90210, I don’t think I got it.

Naomi spent the ep trying to get her parents back together. She took her dad and his girlfriend Gail out to dinner and ended up telling Gail that her dad and mom were still sleeping together. Then she invited both her parents to the same event - a model thing - without telling either one cause she was sure that her dad would see how hot her mom looked and want her back. Ethan tried to reason with her, but she was sure she was right. She wasn’t.

Adrianna and her mom were in the Principal’s office being questioned about her drug use. Her mother threatened to sue the school if they didn’t lay off Adrianna. Then Adrianna got teamed up with Annie to complete a school assignment. At first she was a real jerk, but when Annie proves how nice she is by telling an agent who is asking her to read for a part that Adrianna is amazing and getting her a read, too, Adrianna tells Annie the truth about Ty and then texts the truth to Ty. But not without acting a little irrationally in between times. At the end, Adrianna is meeting up with her drug supplier.

About Watching The CW

The CW was born in September 2006, and inherited a mixture of programming from its parents the WB and UPN. The CW has a diverse line up from Monday night comedy to Friday Night Smackdown. In between the laughs and the wrestling are alternate reality or fantasy based shows (Supernatural, Smallville), ones that are fit to bursting with bright young things (Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill) and don't forget all the wannabes trying to make it in reality programming (The Beauty & the Geek, America's Next Top Model, Pussy Cat Dolls). This blog will review, recap, share spoilers and other cool finds related to the CW's programming.
