90210 - Lucky Strike Recap

by

The second week of 90210, didn’t quite live up to the first ep, or maybe it did. It had a bit of a different feel than the first two-hour ep, but perhaps it was just getting into its stride and hunkering down for the long run. This review will be spoilery, so if you haven’t seen it yet, be warned.

The main point of the show was all about family. Annie and Dixon’s (Shenea Grimes and Tristan Wilds) parents, Harry and Debbie (Rob Estes and Lori Laughlin), feel that they aren’t seeing their children enough, so they decide to have a family night, just like they did back in Kansas. They want to take the kids bowling, but Annie has made a date with Ty (Adam Gregory), and Dixon wants to go see the new unaired Bond movie with his friends. They are forced to go bowling, but end up inviting all their friends to go with them. When all the kids show up, except for Ty, the end up bowling with the family and Annie is hitting it off with Ethan (Dustin Milligan). Suddenly, Ty does show up to take her to the concert at the pier.

Silver (Jessica Stroup) is so unhappy at home with her alcoholic mother that she spends one night at a shelter, and then tries to spend the next with her sister, Kelly (Jennie Garth), who turns her down to go on a date with Ryan (Ryan Eggold). She shows up at the bowling night and has more fun with Annie and Dixon’s parents than they do. Dixon finds her sleeping in her car outside of their house later and they have a moment, as she tells him her story and he shares what it was like growing up in foster care. He then convinces her that they should tell his parents and they, of course, take her in for the night. Harry then meets with Kelly, who realizes it is time for her to talk to her mom and deal with some issues. While she confronts her mom, Silver shows up and Kelly says she is taking Silver home to live with her.

Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) is all excited about spending the weekend with her dad at a big party in Las Vegas. But when her parents show up, her dad says he has to go back to the office to deal with some big merger that is falling apart and he gives her a new car as a consolation gift. That night, she goes to her dad’s office to bring him something to eat and sees him with another woman. She freaks out and she and Adrianna, who is with her, head to the bowling alley, where Ethan comforts Naomi and takes her home. She lays down in bed with her mom, and then the next morning tells her mom what she saw. Turns out, her mom knew all about it and she puts up with it because she doesn’t want to lose her lifestyle.

Their parents eventually release Annie and Dixon to go where they want to go, but before they can leave, Naomi shows up hysterical. Annie goes to help, but ends up just watching Ethan console Naomi. Then Ty texts her that he had to leave, so she and Silver end up going with Dixon and Navid (Michael Steger) to see the Bond movie.

The show ends with Annie, Dixon and their parents talking about what they want to do for the next family night.

About Watching The CW

The CW was born in September 2006, and inherited a mixture of programming from its parents the WB and UPN. The CW has a diverse line up from Monday night comedy to Friday Night Smackdown. In between the laughs and the wrestling are alternate reality or fantasy based shows (Supernatural, Smallville), ones that are fit to bursting with bright young things (Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill) and don't forget all the wannabes trying to make it in reality programming (The Beauty & the Geek, America's Next Top Model, Pussy Cat Dolls). This blog will review, recap, share spoilers and other cool finds related to the CW's programming.
