Not Watching CW

Monday, December 31st, 2007

happynewyearclock1.jpgI just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and apologize for not being around much this past month. December is such a very busy time for me, both at work and at home. I hope to be around more in January.

It has been a little hard to write about shows on the CW over the past few weeks, when the shows I watch have pretty much been on hiatus. But I’ll try to write more about stuff that may or may not be happening in the upcoming weeks.

Please keep in mind that I have jury duty, yes, you heard me right, jury duty next week, so who knows how much time I’ll have to aimlessly websurf. I also have an appointment with a specialist next week as well, since I’ve had laryngitis since before Thanksgiving. Lucky me. And I’m a recruiter in the real world, so I’m on the phone all the time. I mean, all the time.

So, while I’m trying to promise you more, and I really mean it, it might not happen as much as I’d like. Also, I want you all to understand that I’m not just ignoring this blog. I really am interested in sharing new and exciting CW info with you.

From the research I just did, I can’t figure out when either Reaper or Supernatural are coming back on in new eps, but my fear is not until the strike is over. Suddenly, I want to cry.

Well, everyone try to have a wonderful, happy and safe New Years eve. See ya next year!

It’s a Wonderful Supernatural

Friday, December 21st, 2007

I’ve been so busy (you can read all about it here), I realize that I completely forgot to say anything about the Supernatural Christmas episode. I loved it!! Really. My husband, who is not the Supernatural kind, even watched it with me. And I think he even liked it. And that’s not natural . . . (it’s supernatural, get it?? I’m just hilarious, aren’t I? I kill me.)

Of course, now that more than a week has passed since I saw it, I can barely remember what I liked about it. I’m just left with a feeling of overall happiness about it. Well, also, I’m a big fan of Christmas, so I’m always happy about Christmas eps of any show.

One thing that really hit me was how sad Sam and Dean’s lives really were as children, and how sad they still are. They grew up and still live in a world that’s so barren of any things, not that life is all about things, but just seeing them sitting in bare, cold, lonely motel rooms every Christmas was touching. Watching Sam and Dean as little kids, Dean stealing girl’s presents for Sam, and then as adults, giving each other gifts bought at gas stations and wrapped in newspaper, it made me feel for them. Like, I really came to a place where I thought of them as people instead of just as characters. It was a good moment.

I kept thinking that their mother wouldn’t have wanted that for them. Although I can understand their dad’s desire to hunt down and kill the demon that killed their mother, I think by doing that, the demon really won. Maybe if he had just gone on and given them the life they should have had, then he would have cheated the demon.

Also, I think I’m thinking about this too much.

Winning Role Models

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

saleishatyra.thumbnail.jpgI wasn’t at all surprised to see Jenah leave first last night on America’s Next Top Model. I believe I’ve called for her to come in third at least a couple of times over the last few weeks. (It’s OK, you don’t have to congratulate me or anything.) Although, I was sorry when she cried and was talking about having to raise her little sisters by herself. I didn’t know that and it was a bit surprising.

In any case, I wasn’t really surprised to see Saleisha and Chantal as the top two, even though I had some worry a while back that they were grooming Heather for the top spot. I have to say that Saleisha has always been one of my favorites and I thought she and Chantal were among the best.

Which, as it turns out, they were. I thought it was interesting to see that little clip where Saleisha says to Chantal at the very beginning, “Let’s be the last two standing.” It does make you wonder a bit if this whole thing is rigged. I don’t know that I think it is and it doesn’t really matter to me that much. I’ve pretty much always thought American Idol was rigged, and I love that show. I don’t watch reality tv cause I’m truly expecting reality, I watch it cause it’s entertaining. Sometimes. Now that I come to think of it, I do believe that ANTM and AI are the only two reality-type shows that I actually watch. Oh, wait, and Hell’s Kitchen.

Anyway, back to the subject at hand. In watching the runway walk, I did think that Saleisha was much stronger than Chantal - although, I really felt sorry for Chantal when that guy fell on her dress. You could just see that she wanted to turn around and help him back up, but realized that she couldn’t do that. Then, when the judges were telling them how they did, even though most of the positive comments went to Saleisha, you could almost see a look in Chantal’s eye that said she was confident she had won. Saleisha, on the other hand, looked hopeful, but unsure, like she didn’t think she really deserved it. I thought that was interesting, cause it does seem like the most confident person should win and, also, I thought maybe they were faking us out by only showing the negative criticism of Chantal. Apparently not.

saleisha2.thumbnail.jpgOverall, even though I didn’t call it, I’m glad Saleisha won, cause I think she’s adorable and I think that she really was one of the best there, especially role model-wise. Good luck, Saleisha!!

To DVR or Not to DVR

Friday, December 7th, 2007

reaper21.jpg
I’m gonna miss Reaper over the next few weeks and I’m gonna hope it will be back after the New Year. They didn’t actually say it would, but I have hope. Although, Tuesday night, traditionally a full night for me with TV, will be even more full with the addition of American Idol, so I don’t know how much I can watch.

We will have our DVR by then. I hope. When I called Time Warner cable they were all out of boxes and told me it might be a few weeks!! However, they tell me a DVR can only tape two shows at a time, when I have been known to tape anywhere up to five shows at one time. Plus, I keep the tapes. I really need someone who understands how this all works to explain it to me. I mean, can I tape on the DVR and then somehow save the show to a video tape or DVD so I can watch it again later like I do with my tapes now? I’ve been known to tape an entire season of a show and then re-watch it at a later date. I suppose that the season DVDs come out so soon now that maybe that’s not necessary, but still, what if I wanna??

I’m completely serious. I need a lesson in what it means to DVR and what I can and can’t do with it. If I don’t know, how can I do what I’ve been doing all along. I’ve been taping shows and saving them since the early 80’s. Really. So please, if you’re our there, help me. Soon, like before Reaper comes back on.

Model Behavior

top4_1.jpg
Wow, I really didn’t think Bianca would be going anywhere this week on America’s Next Top Model. I’m really off my game. My game’s left the country. And the way she left, with Tyra telling her that she just didn’t have the natural chops to be a model and the other girls were pretty much there. Yikes! That hurt me and I wasn’t even there. I know Bianca has been a first class bitca, but still and all, it seemed pretty harsh to me.

I really thought it would be Jenah, cause she’s been whining so much about being homesick. When she was saying about how she just wanted it to be over cause she missed her bed and family, etc., I was thinking, honey, when it’s over, if you win, you’re not really going back to that bed. And then Miss J told her the same thing, but they still kept her over Bianca. Well, maybe she’ll be that unknown third person like I said a couple of weeks ago. I mean she even admitted that she doesn’t know who she is, so how the heck can she excpect the rest of us to have a clue.

So the Top 3 are Saleisha, Jenah and Chantal. I think either Chantal or Saleisha would make a great Cover Girl, cause they are both so upbeat and fresh-faced, which seems like Cover Girl to me, plus both would do well in Seventeen magazine, cause they both look young. Well, of course, they both are young, but still sometimes models and actresses look a lot older than they really are, probably from their unusual lifestyles and, maybe, all the makeup. It can’t be good for your skin to be constantly covering it with tons of makeup. I don’t know where that came from. Just another weird little side effect from having my brain.

Anyway, if I’m picking a winner now . . . um, I still don’t know. But its not Jenah.

About Watching The CW

The CW was born in September 2006, and inherited a mixture of programming from its parents the WB and UPN. The CW has a diverse line up from Monday night comedy to Friday Night Smackdown. In between the laughs and the wrestling are alternate reality or fantasy based shows (Supernatural, Smallville), ones that are fit to bursting with bright young things (Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill) and don't forget all the wannabes trying to make it in reality programming (The Beauty & the Geek, America's Next Top Model, Pussy Cat Dolls). This blog will review, recap, share spoilers and other cool finds related to the CW's programming.
