13: Fear is Real
There’s a new reality series coming to the CW, and it premieres on Wednesday, January 7 at 8:00 pm ET. The show is called 13: Fear is Real and from what I’ve read about it, they aren’t kidding, the fear will be real.
The way it works is thirteen contestants are left on their own in the Louisiana bayou. Then one is eliminated each week, when they mysteriously disappear. The person who lasts the longest get the prize: $66,666. It’s not enough. Not for me anyway. If I had to spend several weeks living in the Blair Witch Project?? Not even close. Not even if they added another couple of 6’s to that number.
According to the CW’s Entertainment President, Dawn Ostroff, “The action takes contestants on a journey with challenges and games designed to frighten them along the way. Similar to horror films, the challenges will play into our deepest fears and anxieties and will reveal things the contestants never knew about themselves.”
I think I know myself well enough, thank you. Honestly, I can’t even imagine what would make me want to do something like this. I don’t even want to watch it. And I’m no scaredy pants, either. I like to be frightened. (Although, I’m not a huge fan of what passes for scary these days, which is too much gore.) But I do like a good old fashioned horror movie the same as the next guy. I just wouldn’t want to live in one.
Sometimes I wonder what TV executives are thinking about when they dream up these shows.
If you’re still not convinced to stay away, here’s a little intro clip from the show:

This was EASILY the dumbest reality show I have ever seen. Not only was it totally not believable, the people in it seem to be trying to act. I guess when you know something is not real you have to try and “sell” it to the audience. The only way I would sit down and watch another episode is if the “mastermind” tied me up and forced me to face my biggest fear. Watching another episode of this tripe.

Thank you for your comments, Megan. I’m glad you like the show, but it is a little difficult to take advice from someone with such poor spelling and grammar skills. I can only assume that you are either very young or that English is not your first language. If that is so, I apologise, as I don’t wish to be offensive.
Enjoy the show.
